Sick-Bag At The Ready - How To Make Yourself A Tad More Popular And Loved

A number of recent experiences have reminded me of something a little bit biblical.

"Do Unto Others As You Would Have Done Unto You"

Consider Xmas morning. Do you enjoy the joy of giving more than the joy of receiving?

Consider that with people you buy products or services from. You have given to them, but when they do a great job, you have received a really positive experience.

You can create a virtuous circle akin to Xmas morning by sharing that experience.

When you meet people in business circles - such as at a networking event - consider turning the binoculars the other way around.

Listen out for people discussing needs that could be fulfilled by those suppliers you think are great.

And recommend them.

But why?

How do you feel when someone gives you a gift for Xmas? And you hadn't bought them one. Would you go out and buy one?

Killer Networking Tip

Invite brilliant suppliers to go with you to networking events. Preferrably suppliers that you've referred to before.

And here's the really juicy bit. Instead of talking about yourself, talk about your friends who are in the same room. And introduce them.

When you meet someone who needs the services of a friend, share your positive experience. And offer to introduce them because they're in the same room right now.

Can you guess the next bit? What if your friends (in the same room) did the same?

Would that take the sting out of business networking - you know, the bit where you usually have to "sell" yourself? Isn't it easier to rave about someone else than yourself?
